One Day Foundation Course

The
Fly Fishing School at Nether Wallop Mill is the ideal place to try your
hand at fishing on the well-stocked trout lake.
The School is fully equipped and overseen by one of three Fishing Breaks Instructors, who hold the nationally recognised APGAI and GAIA qualifications. All the tackle is provided and we use the very latest outfits. The Foundation Courses are kept small (four pupils) to ensure maximum individual attention.
The tuition is very practical, where the aim is to get a rod in your hand and fishing with confidence just as soon as we can; no extensive classroom sessions and nearly all the time will be spent outside. At the end of each Course everybody receives a handy booklet that summarises the topics covered, plus (we hope!) two fish to take home.
Here is a brief, but far from exhaustive, list of the topics that will be covered:
• Selecting the right tackle
• Tackling up
• Casting; overhead and roll cast
• Knots and tippets
• Hooking and landing a fish
Nether Wallop is easy to reach, just an hour from the M3/M25 junction in Hampshire. The local market town of Stockbridge (4 miles) is a good place to stay or visit, with a host of country shops, places to eat, four pubs to stay at and one hotel. It is also the ‘fly fishing capital’ of England with a famous fishing history, two fishing shops and the River Test flowing alongside the High Street.
